Satisfied Visitors

M. Soules and his wife Donna from Canada stayed with Ramiro in 2006, 2007, and 2009:
"Ramiro's House is comfortable and in a good central location for visiting different parts of Havana, from Miramar to Habana Vieja. Above all, Ramiro was really helpful to us with our limited Spanish; he was keen to answer our questions about Cuban culture and the sights we should see; and he helped us so much in our travels to the provinces. Ramiro has a network and he shares his connections freely and with discretion. In our visits to Havana, Ramiro became our friend as well as a charming host."

James Kahan from England stayed here on 21st May 2007:
"Very helpful man who has already and will I'm sure help us with his friends around the island. Really recommend Ramiro! 93%"

A Canadian stayed here on 24th April 2007:
"My daughter and I enjoyed our stay with Ramiro - he met us at the airport, and gave us much invaluable information, as well as the pleasure of his company. Cerro was a well-chosen location for arriving from the airport, and for catching the Via Azul bus - it was a little far from City Centre, but the chance to walk and actually see some of the outlying areas made it worthwhile for us. Ramiro also cooked us two excellent breakfasts. For us, it worked out superbly - especially as Ramiro's English is so good - that really helped, too, as we found our feet in an unfamiliar city (and worked on our Spanish). Apart from the location, I would recommend this house unreservedly to any of my friends."

Nanna and Peter stayed with Ramiro in 2012. Here is their review:
Atmosphere: 100%
Facilities: 100%
Staff: 100%
Safety: 100%
Location: 95%
Cleanliness: 100%
Value: 100%

We stayed at Ramiro's place the first nights we had in Cuba. Ramiro was very helpful as he made arrangements and called the airport for us when our baggage did not come in with the flight (which seemingly is common when flying from Toronto to Havana). The fact that he speaks English was a great help for us since our Spanish was not that good when we arrived. He took us sightseeing and drove us to the bus station when we left Havana to go to other cities. Ramiro also offered to make arrangements with friends he knew in other cities who rent out rooms, which we made use of. All of his recommendations were very friendly and had nice places at a good price (20 CUC per night).

Ramiro's place is very good value for the money and we got way more than we expected. Air conditioning and fan were in the room and Ramiro cooks the best breakfast in Cuba (in our experience). The neighborhood seemed very safe, and at no time did we feel uncomfortable walking around on our own. The only drawback we could find is that there are no restaurants nearby, but for 5 CUC (remember to bargain!) you can get a cab downtown.

We would gladly stay with Ramiro again and recommend the place to other travelers!
